About Jamie Kalvestran

An accomplished product designer, published illustrator and with three design patents to her name, Jamie Kalvestran is bringing her inspirational designs into textile, quilting, home fashions and personal accessories. A graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Jamie holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in product design. Jamie's professional design career spans over 25 years and includes:

• Designing award winning toys at Tonka and Manhattan Toy.
• A number of design patents for the protective gear she designed for Rollerblade.
• A summer stint as a costume designer at the The Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
• In addition she managed her own wholesale business designing and selling her original equine designs to the equestrian market.

An experienced quilter Jamie has developed a first hand appreciation for textile design. Jamie currently owns Jamie Kalvestran Design and markets her original sewing patterns under the Scrap-bags™ label. Today she offers her original Scrap-bags™ patterns through independently owned specialty retail quilt and fabric shops, as well as online, in downloadable pdf format.
